Bush approval falls to new low
I'm kind of a glass half full kind of guy, so I'm still aware that 37% of our country are going to have a St. Paul-on-the-road-to-Damascus wake up call someday (hopefully not involving as much light.) Occam's razor tells us that "given two equally likely alternatives, we should choose the simpler explanation.
Here's the scorecard:
Or:
And if you're wondering why the stock market isn't going through the roof right now, consider the right track/wrong track. 26% thing we're on the right track, 69% think we're on the wrong track. Unfortunately, they didn't publish "On a bullet train straight to the 9th circle of hell", which would have been my choice.
Here's the scorecard:
Maybe Bush is just a guy who doesn't like to read newspapers...
Maybe he actually thinks that we have a choice between fighting the terrorists here or fighting them in Iraq...
Maybe his vocabulary is just overly colloquial...
Maybe someone forgot to give him the Presidential Daily Briefing (you know, the Bin Laden Determined to attack in U.S. one.)
Maybe all brown people look the same to him...
Maybe he's weighed the scientific proof against evidence from the detractors and has determined that the jury really is still out on evolution and global warning...
Maybe My Pet Goat is, literally, the kind of book you just can't put down.
Maybe he buys into the Rush Limbaugh theory that Abu Ghraib was some kind of fraternity hazing.
Maybe he actually thinks that he can use orange terror alerts the same way the rest of us use sick days.
Maybe Al Qaeda really does hate us for our freedom.
Maybe he really does believe in the Laffer Curve.
Maybe he's a CEO president, selecting the best people available and empowering them to govern their fiefdoms without sweating the small stuff.
Maybe he doesn't really go to bed at 9 every night.
Or:
Maybe he's the just the dumbest guy to ever be elected president. Maybe we elected the founder of the lucky sperm club as President of the United States, and all that 51% of us cared about was his last name in the first election and that he could babble into a bullhorn in the second.
