A well-meaning idea...

But I have to disagree with it. Matthews' commentary on the debates was so slanted towards the Republicans that he has lost the ability to ever represent himself as a Democrat again.

Santorum is going to lose the election. He's a bright red stain on a state that's barely purple, and he shot himself in the foot with his minimum wage amendment to the bankruptcy bill. Arlen Specter is as far to the right as a Republican Senator can go in Pennsylvania and still win, and he's what passes as a moderate. As soon as the ads run showing Santorum trying to demolish Social Security, he's toast. Just wait until waiters and waitresses hear that he wrote legislation to keep states from raising their minimum wage. And I can almost hear the commercials with Santorum's supporters chanting "Hey Hey, Ho Ho, Social Security has got to go."

The fact is, Santorum is going down. Jim Traficant could kick his ass at this point. We have a chance to get a real Democrat in, and we have to take it.
