Today's free advice

News item: Terri Schiavo supporters are fasting to show their support/martyrdom. Some are limiting themselves to bread and water, while some are trying for a Darwin Award. At least one is a blogger, and I read through her blog/desperate cry for attention.

Here is my advice to Becki Snow, with the caveat that hindsight is 20-20.

If you're going to do a sympathy hunger strike (including going without water as long as you can), you might not want to make that last meal spicy pork rinds washed down with two kinds of diuretic.

This is my favorite excerpt from the blog:
It's been about only two and 1/2 hours since I began the hunger strike, and I'm thirsty already. I usually have a drink with me at all times, so this part - the going without liquids - is going to be the hardest part.
Just going out on a limb here...maybe it was the pork rinds?

And while we're on the topic of hunger strikes, I was just thinking that maybe it wouldn't hurt Karl Rove to adopt a principled stand. (Yeah, I stole the joke from Stephen Colbert. Sue me.)

And from Wonkette: It looks like post-steroid life hasn't been kind to Gov. Schwarzenegger either. Wonder if that's what Giambi is going to look like in a few years...
