Scarborough attacks Armstrong Williams.
Get out the popcorn and junior mints. It's time for the best part of political theater. I like to call it When Wingnuts Attack (each other.) Today in the steel cage: Joe Scarborough and Armstrong Williams.
Scarborough booked Williams to appear on his show to explain himself. Scarborough then got out the long knives in his opening segment. (The transcript isn't up yet, but Crooks and Liars has a feed to it. Here are a few excerpts:
One final note. Williams was supposed to be on the show, and once he heard the opening segment, he stormed out of the studio, blew off the interview and started a rumor that Regular Joe has cooties.
It's so nice to see the circular firing squad on the other side of the aisle. Unfortunately, this will be used by Scarborough for months to show himself as fair to both sides. Also unfortunately, I agree with Scarborough.
Time for a long shower.
Scarborough booked Williams to appear on his show to explain himself. Scarborough then got out the long knives in his opening segment. (The transcript isn't up yet, but Crooks and Liars has a feed to it. Here are a few excerpts:
"So Armstrong, true to his word, wrote columns supporting the act in his Tribune Media column on January 7th...March the 1st...May the 14th...and May the 24th. He also gave the Education Secretary the face time that he promised."A few fun points here. Former congressman Scarborough is calling for an investigation. This kind of bribe can't be legal, and someone needs to be fired, fined and possibly jailed for it. Next, if my ears didn't deceive me, he sent out a shoutout to Al Franken, Janeane Garofalo and David Brock.
"Let me ask you this question. How would you respond if you learned that Ted Kennedy's senate office used tax dollars to pay Dan Rather $240,000 to shamelessly promote the Abu Ghraib prison scandal? You would raise hell and you'd demand accountability. And so would I."
"The White House and the Education bureaucracy and how they use our tax dollars is a matter of my business and your business. Paying reporters and columnists to flack for a centralized government scheme seems to confirm the worst fears of Hyatt, Friedman and Reagan. Oh yeah. It also seems to confirm what Al Franken, Janeane Garofalo and David Brooks have been saying about the right wing media being extensions of the White House."
"Tonight, I'm calling for the Inspector General of the Federal Department of Education to conduct an immediate investigation and get to the bottom of this taxpayer funded scandal. Americans need to know who approved this payoff, and that bureaucrat had better be held accountable."
One final note. Williams was supposed to be on the show, and once he heard the opening segment, he stormed out of the studio, blew off the interview and started a rumor that Regular Joe has cooties.

Great article, Lefty. I added a link to it on an article at chicagomediamonitor.com. Scarborough, no friend of Franken and Garofalo, seems to have the right take on this issue and was kind enough to even give them some props.
