Right wing hypocrites

By all accounts, Tom DeLay is about to be indicted for campaing fundraising irregularities. The Republicans quickly passed a rule removing the requirement that a congressional leader step down when under indictment. Unfortunately, this vote was held in secret, so we don't know who voted for it unless they speak out on their own.

Minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and Mimority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Maryland) spoke out on this, but this needs to become the meme from EVERYONE for the next few weeks. It needs to be spun into a larger issue, along with voter suppression and long poll lines. Simply put, Republicans have to cheat to win.
"Today, Republicans sold their collective soul to maintain their grip on power," said House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.). Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said: "Republicans have reached a new low. It is absolutely mind-boggling that as their first order of business following the elections, House Republicans have lowered the ethical standards for their leaders."

This needs to be hung around the neck of every Republican who took his dirty money or who voted in the DeLay rule. This latter group includes Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (D-Otherwise Great State of Illinois.) The Republican spin on this is that the investigation is politically based. That may be, but laws are laws, and three DeLay aides have been indicted.

Of course the complaint is coming from the Democrats. It's a campaign finance issue, and they're the aggrieved party.

Let's also not forget DeLay is the same douchebag that used Homeland Security resources to track down the Texas state reps who fled the state to deny a quorum on redistricting.

This needs to be put historic context by stating that every time a Democrat got into trouble, they resigned their post.
